Baofeng GM-15 Pro

This radio has the best transmit and receive range and audio clarity for the price.
Uses a USB-C type charger. Can be charged with a wall plug, car charger adapter, emergency hand crank radio, power bank.
Headset and mic for hands-free operation (included). This is good to use in noisy conditions and for private conversations.
Removable antenna.
Pre-programmed NOAA weather frequencies.
Privacy codes.
Repeater capable.
Larger capacity battery at 2100 mAh (milli amp hour)

Radio can also be used for family vacations, emergencies, outdoor events, etc.

Recommended GMRS radio (Baofeng GM-15 Pro) and ability to charge battery for extended radio use. Cost of radio approx. $26.
Recommended GMRS base station antenna (Comet CA-GMRS). Costs is approx. $80 from The Antenna Farm website.
RG-8X coax cable, 50 Ohm, with UHF male ends (PL-259) of sufficient length to reach from high point on roof to inside home. 50 ft ($35), 100 ft ($50).
Mounting bracket and pole for antenna.
Jumper cable with SMA female and SO-239 connectors. Costs is approx. $3
